We Love Asheville, NC

I don't think you understand...WE LOVE ASHEVILLE!! This past weekend we took our love to our favorite city in North Carolina; Asheville!! This is now our 3rd time visiting Asheville and most definitely not our last.

Let’s start with how we got to Asheville this time around…

For Christmas I told my husband that I didn’t want anything material. I wanted experiences. He stepped out of his comfort zone and planned truly, the perfect weekend getaway to Asheville. He did everything, booked the hotel, made all sorts of food reservations, shoot he even talked me through what to pack based off his outfits. It felt good to not have to think at all, I just got in the car and enjoyed the weekend! The cherry on top was that when we got there Friday evening, it started snowing…it was so beautiful and romantic…take me back.

Why do we love Asheville? It’s simple…the small-town vibe, great food, romantic city, and all the charm. We decided to stay at the Cambria downtown, and I am so glad we did. The hotel was amazing and the perfect proximity to walk too just about anything downtown. Cambria will now be our #1 pick of places to stay in Asheville. Now let’s get into the trip…

Let’s talk food!

I would like to highlight 2 restaurants, 1 brewery, and 1 ice cream shop (there’s more, but for the sake of time LOL; I’ll keep it brief and limited). First one up, Rhubarb. Rhubarb is a farm to table new American Fare cuisine, and it was amazing…the drinks were good too LOL. We ordered the pimento cheese hush puppies as an appetizer (so good). G ordered the Smoked Ashley Farms Half Chicken which included a porcini rub, buttermilk biscuit dumplings, mushroom ragout, carrot puree, and spicy collard green slaw. Y’all, this chicken was delicious; the smoky taste mixed with the spicy collard and paired with the dumpling…my mouth-watering LOL. I had the seared sunburst trout fillet. This dish was equally as good and both dishes were great for sharing. We shared the hot chocolate cookie dessert, and it was so yummy.

Brunchin’…at The Blackbird. This restaurant was decent. Those that know me, know that breakfast/brunch is my absolute most favorite meal to partake in. At The Blackbird, we had a pineapple mimosa and this amazing coffee beverage (spirits, b/c why not…it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, LOL) called Boozy Brew (it was good and boozy). To eat we enjoyed sharing beignets (as an appetizer) the Creole Shrimp and Grits dish and the pulled pork eggs benedict dish which was served on a Cornbread biscuit; it was a good southern breakfast…would I go back…maybe.

Next up, Wicked Weed Brewing Pub! The food here was ok, but that cider …yasss! I am not a huge drinker, but I love a good cider. Wicked Weed Slice cider did not disappoint…I would go back for their fries, Slice cider, and the black walnut old Fashioned.

Now for the sweets! Sunshine Sammie’s…let me tell you…this will be a tradition to get an ice cream sammich…yes sammich from Sammie’s. We had the snickerdoodle banana nut bread ice cream sandwich, with get this…huge chucks of real banana nut bread…OMG…SO GOOD!

I can go on and on about my little piece of heaven right there in Asheville, NC! We had the BEST time, so much so that Saturday was a blur (inside joke with my husbae LOL). I forgot to mention this cute cigar lounge located near the Biltmore Village, we had a time in there and will definitely visit it again (I forgot the name of it).

Check it out, and if you have been let me know your favorite restaurants to eat at and places to explore. Until next time, good people…
